Places of Attraction

Pelling :

The Paradise of Sikkim is about 133 kilometers away from Siliguri and 125 kilometers from Gangtok and well connected with all weather metal roads by bus and jeep services. Situated at an altitude of 6800 feet. Pelling is an ideal get away for tourists as its vicinity has numerous waterfalls, soft trek routes, villages and soothing atmosphere for all discerning.

Rabdentse Palace Ruins :

This was the second capital of the erstwhile Kingdom after Yuksom and till the year 1814 A.D., the King of Sikkim ruled from this place. Today, the ruins lie hidden from the main road at a walking distance from the Pemayangtse Monastery. The scenic view from the top of the ruins scanning across the valley to the mystic heights of Khang – Chen - Dzonga range is something to be cherished and etched in memory.

Pemayangtse Monastery :

It is one of the oldest monasteries of the State. This ancient monastery belonging to the Nyingma Sect has been considered as one of the premier monasteries in the State. Inside the monastery there is a wooden structure depicting the Maha Guru's heavenly" palace (Sang – Tok - Palri), which is considered a masterpiece erected by Late Dungzin Rimpoche. The Monastery, located on a hill top at an altitude of 6300 ft. commands a magnificent panoramic view of the Himalayan ranges, the surrounding hills and the countryside.

Yuksom :

Situated at a height of 5800 feet. The place is visited by backpackers who arrive here for these treks. This is an ideal place for leisure holiday, trekker, wildlife, birding and adventure seekers. Yuksom is situated in West Sikkim nearly 40 kilometers from Pelling / Pemayangtse. Norbugang Chorten still bears the evidence of the consecration ceremony like the form of stone seats and foot prints of Latsun Chembo i.e. one of the lamas who consecrated the king. It also serves as the base camp for Dzongri - Goechala trek.

Khecheopalri Lake :

The Sacred Lake Situated at a distance of 25 kilometers from Pelling, it is considered to be one of the sacred lakes of the State both by the Buddhist and the Hindus. The Lake remains hidden under the rich forest cover. The birds do not permit even a single leaf to float on the lake surface. There is motor able road from Pemayangtse right up to the lake area. For those interested in spending a night or two in the peaceful environment, a trekker's hut is available. There is j also a Pilgrim Hut.

Khangchendzonga Water Falls :

After an hour and a half drive from Pelling, one comes across the beautiful Khangchendzonga twin Water Falls. On way to Yuksom, it is a place not to be missed by the tourists for its breathtaking beauty and grandeur. The scenic beaty of the place is enhanced by the back drop of the mountains it's truly an unforgettable experience to be there. This place is always crowded with visitors hence it is advisable to start early or late so that the isolation is worth appreciating.

Singshore Bridge, Uttarey :

This highest bridge of Sikkim is located at a short distance from Dentam. En route is Uttarey, a base camp for trek to Singalila range and other enchanting peaks and places. Sikkim's deepest suspension Bridge "Singshore Bridge" at West Sikkim is worth visiting. It is located in Dentam Uttarey Road. The engineering skills of roads and bridges of the department of Sikkim is worth visiting.

Ravangla :

Situated at an elevation of 7100 feet at the base of Maenam Hill, with pristine landscape and is nearly 75 kilometers from Gangtok. Nearby villages known as Yangang, Tinkitam, Kewzing, Barfung & Bakhim are ideal for home stay and some of them are really hot spot among visitors. It has diverse range of flora and fauna, mountains, waterfalls, Temi tea gardens, peaceful villages, monasteries and fresh air. Kewzing, Bonn Monastery, Ralong Monastery, Borong Hot water springs are worth Visiting. MaenamPeak at nearly 10300 feet offers breathtaking views.

Rinchenpong :

Rinchenpong in Lepcha dialect means the place to assemble. Pong means place and Rinchen stands for assembly. Maggi Dara is a place with a new monastery is being built close to the Rabindra Smriti Van. Trek to Bersey Rhododendron Sanctuary or visit Bersey Rhododendron Sanctuary by Road, Sai Mandir at Daramdin, Singshore Bridge, Samduptse statue and Heritage House of 1860 are places of interest nearby. Rinchenpong Monastery and Resume monastery are places of tourist interest.

Uttarey / Varsey :

The Varsey Rhododendron Sanctuary is a destination in the Singalila Range. From Barsey one can trek to Sandhukphu and Phalut in Darjeeling via Gorkhey. The sanctuary is spread across nearly 104 square kilometers across the Singalila Range. This Sanctuary can be approached from three points; they are Hilley, Dentam and Soreng. The approach path to Varsey / Bashey Getting there is either from Jorethang – Sombaria - Hilley by road or trek from Soreng to Barsey is 12 kilometers – start from the Soreng Bazaar.
